Barrick Gold Corporation is today the world’s largest gold mining company. Headquartered in Toronto, Canada – Barrick currently has a portfolio of 27 mining operations, many advanced exploration projects located across five continents and a large land position on the world’s most prolific and prospective mineral trends. Nine of Barrick’s mining operations are found within the Australia Pacific region, with its regional head office located in Perth, Western Australia.
Darlot Gold Mine is located approximately 650 km north-east of Perth, currently producing approximately 115,000 ounces each year from the underground operations. The processing plant features 3 stage crushing, primary and secondary grinding circuits, leach tanks, CIP circuit, IPS elution circuit and paste fill.
In the role of Processing Manager you will report to the site based General Manager and be included as a key member of the Leadership Team.
As a highly motivated professional you will accept responsibility for the management of the milling and metallurgical department incorporating the planning, development, optimisation and the production of the mineral processing operation.
Overall responsibility:
• Develop, maintain and improve Darlot’s processing systems to ensure that all OHS and production targets are delivered to budget
• Ensure the mining department is kept aware of processing requirements
• Provide paste products to Mining Department and laboratory testing services to Mining and Geology Departments on schedule and to quality specifications
• Provide project management support and services across the surface infrastructure and elsewhere on site
• Provide power generation to the site
• Ensure the security of the processing plant including the gold room
• Assist the General Manager in developing the overall business strategy, particularly in regard to processing technology development and operations and infrastructure provision and maintenance
• Ensure Cyanide Code Compliance
Experience and qualifications required:
• Proven effective leadership and management of a multi-disciplinary processing department in a medium to large operation

• A high level understanding of Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations
• A strong working knowledge of the relevant environmental legislation
• A solid understanding of metallurgy processes, functions and interfaces in a base metals operation
• Experience in Maintenance management systems
• Financial and systematic business and planning processes
• Power generation and HV reticulation systems
• Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management system (such as Oracle), word processing and spreadsheet applications
• Familiarity with metallurgical accounting systems
• And understanding of process control systems
• Tertiary qualifications in Metallurgy or a related discipline; Membership of AusIMM
The operation is fly in/fly out from Perth on an 8 days on / 6 days off roster. Excellent on-site accommodation is provided. Recreational facilities include internet café, Foxtel, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts and gymnasium.
