Location: Australia Within the Yilgarn Operations Barrick operates four wholly owned Gold Mines in the North Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia producing approx. 500,000-600,000 oz of gold each year.
Position Overview:
We are seeking experienced, proactive and self-motivated OHS Superintendents to join our team. These positions will be responsible for applying, facilitating and monitoring occupational health and safety systems to enable leaders to manage the safety and health of their team
Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the OHS Manager – Yilgarn Shared Services with a strong relationship with the site General Manager, you will have the following responsibilities:
• Analyse the Yilgarn One Safety Management Plan, OH & S Risk Register and Barrick Corporate O H & S policies and capture all objectives and targets for O H & S performance.
• Determine all elements required to achieve the stated performance and facilitate the development and implementation of these.
• Develop the appropriate review tools and processes to monitor compliance and achievement and gain commitment.
• Monitor the OH & S systems and business processes, identify and prioritise improvement opportunities and formulate alternatives and improvements to systems and methods.
• Assist the OH & S Manager with implementation of change management initiatives and other business improvement projects.
• Develop, implement and maintain safe work procedures and promote safety, health and environmental awareness.
• Develop continuous improvement targets for the function and drive and measure achievement of these targets.
• Ongoing improvement of the safety culture of the site
Requirements:
• Recognised tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety
• Several years experience in occupational health and safety roles, including a senior advisory role in a customer-focussed environment.
• Experience in a management system environment, leading change by means of SMS education, audit, compliance and improvement.
• Extensive experience in incident and accident investigation, reporting and driving corrective actions.
• Experience in emergency response management planning and training.
• High level understanding of all relevant legislation affecting the employment and safety of persons in the mining industry in WA.
• Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas.
• Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet application
This position is fly in/fly out from Perth on a 8 days on 6 days off roster. Excellent on-site accommodation is provided. Recreational facilities include internet café, Foxtel, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, gymnasium and sports oval.
