Location: USA Position Overview
The position requires an intuitive thinker able to work on their own under difficult conditions. His main task would be to assist the Chief Mine Surveyor in management of data, equipment and resources including implementation and training on new technology.
Position will work Fly In / Fly Out - 6 weeks on with one day of rest followed by two weeks off - flight to pint of origin.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
To assist the Senior Mine Surveyor to:-
• Assist in maintaining mine-site survey control for the PVDC operations.
• Assist in implementing integrated systems and data structures for efficient functioning of survey services.
• Assist in the management of all survey work within the PVDC Fiscal and Development Boundaries.
• Assist in coordination and planning of survey resources as required.
• Assist in coordination of month end volumetric surveys, grade control reconciliation and Mill throughput.
• Assist in planning and reporting of stockpile surveys and volume calculations.
• Manage the maintenance/calibration of all surveying equipment to required standards.
• Assist in the implementation and management of slope stability monitoring systems in pits, dumps, dam walls and structures as required.
• Daily interaction with Mining Personnel and contractors as required.
Other duties as assigned:-
• Act in the position of Chief Mine Surveyor as required.
• Actively participate in training and evaluation of senior and junior staff in the methods, techniques and procedures of surveying and all mining activities.
• To be pro-active in all aspects of operational safety and encourage teamwork within the department.
Supervisory Requirements
• High level of communication skills in Spanish. English would be an advantage.
• Concise conveyor of technical detail.
• Good coaching and mentoring skills.
• Good persuasion skills.
• Personnel management skills.

Qualifications
Education
A Survey Degree or any similar survey related qualification from a recognized Institution.
Experience
• A minimum 2 years post qualification survey experience, preferably in the open pit mining, construction or quarry environment.
• Able to show initiative, integrity and personal management skills.
• Able to implement new systems and software.
• Good written and oral communication skills in Spanish, English would be an advantage.
• Pass pre-employment and medical examinations.
Skills & Abilities
• Survey related software packages - VULCAN, ArcGIS, AutoCad, Trimble Business Centre;
• 3D laser scanners and related software - iSite + iSite Studio, Leica HDS + Cloudworx, Trimble RealWorks, RTK GPS, Trimble total stations, digital level;
• Valid drivers license;
• Knowledge of mining operations.
• Be physically fit and able to work in challenging conditions.
