Chief Geologist

Our client is a respected coal mining company committed to delivering sustainable growth and premium products whilst minimizing environmental impact. They have over 20 years of coal mining experience in Indonesia, producing coal of various quality from their operations in Kalimantan.
An excellent career opportunity exists for a Chief Geologist to contribute to the growth of their coal business. This role will play a key function in providing geological support across their operations and will effectively plan, coordinate and continuously improve the geological function.

The role involves a range of responsibilities including:

* Geological modeling using Mincom and provision of models to planning personnel to enable the achievement of short and long term business objectives.
* Participation in various technical studies
* Provide proactive leadership to the geological function
* Identify improvement opportunities within area of responsibility
* Mentor, coach and motivate team members to enable them to develop within their role
* Conduct/manage exploration programs to define resource limits, constraints and maintain JORC requirements

The successful candidate will be a degree qualified Geologist with the following competencies:

* A minimum of 15 years experience with an extensive background in coal geology
* Production background in large scale open pit coal mines.
* Previous experience in computer-based geological modeling with a working knowledge of Minex and Mincom
* Experience in the management of exploration programs and tenement management issues
* Excellent leadership, communication and presentation skills
* Previous experience in Indonesia will be well regarded.

A generous remuneration package, commensurate with the successful candidate’s skills and experience, is on offer. The package will cover all living expenses.
