Our client an Australian company focused on the discovery and development of significant high grade Copper/Cobalt deposits in the highly mineralised “Roan Sequence” of the world-renowned Africa Copper Belt is seeking to employ a Project Manager to manage the delivery of a HMS and shaft furnaces operation treating high grade oxide and transition ores producing black copper ingots grading 95 to 98 percent copper.
Reporting to the Executive Director you will be responsible for the project preparation, design, constructing, commissioning and delivering an operating facility. As a senior member you may be called on to represent the company with government authorities, stakeholders and community leaders. This is considered an integral part of all employees’ employment responsibilities.
Your duties will include but will not be limited to:
* Manage the EPC company
* Manage the metallurgical testwork requirements
* Presenting final programs and budgets to the Executive Director
* Provide stand in support for Site Manager while on leave during construction
* Project review activities
* Timely reporting of results, monthly activity report and projects reporting
* Assist with purchasing and project related activities
* Tender assistance for Long lead items
* Ensure compliance with required environmental standards and policies
Position Requirements:
* A Bachelor Degree in Metallurgical, Mining, Mechanical Engineering or related field
* At least 10 years of proven experience in a simular role
* Thorough knowledge of mining operations and ore processing principles
* Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of people at all levels - both internal and external to the organisation
* Overseas experience, preferably in Africa
* Abundant enthusiasm and energy
