Drill & Blast Superintendent

Our client is a leading contractor who has been delivering integrated mining and construction services across Indonesia for more than two decades. They currently have a vacancy for an experienced Drill & Blast Superintendent to join their team at one of Indonesia’s largest coal operations. Reporting to the Mining Manager, the D&B Superintendent will co-ordinate the technical design and monitoring function for drilling and blasting operations to ensure production targets are achieved while ensuring safety.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

* Lead the crew to ensure that the team achieves objectives
* Design and conduct blasts with due attention to the potential for limits in overpressure and vibration accidence, dust generation and explosive fumes issues
* Design safe, cost effective blast patterns ahead of time
* Participate, provide input to and discuss the short term mining plan and D&B issues with Planning Engineers and Production personnel
* Monitor and achieve blasting targets, highlight blasting inefficiencies
* Provide technical expertise and liaison with explosives suppliers to resolve product quality issues
* Monitor explosive usage and maintain budgeted powder factors
* Develop the workforce to ensure they are focused & constantly achieving targets, while creating a participating work environment
* Actively investigate enhancements to procedure and processes that achieve improvements in performance, job satisfaction, and productivity.

To be successful in this position you will possess a background in drill & blast in large scale open cut mining, preferably coal, with at least one or two years in a supervisory or management role. Previous experience working in Indonesia is desirable.
