OPERATING AREA: Oil sands
Our Client:
Our client is an integrated oil and gas company with operations within Canada and internationally. The company currently holds a substantial land base of oil sands leases in Northern Alberta which will result in full field development producing over 200,000 bbl/d. The Oil sands Pilot is coming on stream in 2010 at 20,000 bbl/d with plans for further expansion, and the current 10,000 bbl/d SAGD facility is on schedule. The second Oil sands Project is in the planning phase for developing a 40,000 bbl/d commercial plant. The company is seeking new Engineering staff to join their teams. The objective of this position is to provide reservoir engineering and simulation support to the development of the company¡¦s oil sands assets by using SAGD, solvent co-injection and/or other thermal recovery technologies. This role will can be seconded to other divisions and projects on a short-term basis.
Reporting Structure:
This position will report to the Manager, Reservoir Studies.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
„h Contribute to the success of our projects by working effectively in a team environment with Geology, Geophysics and other Engineering disciplines.
„h Conduct numerical modeling and subsurface studies.
„h Provide reservoir engineering support for a steam solvent co-injection pilot.
„h Analyze subsurface and surface field data to obtain key reservoir/well performance parameters.
„h Perform regional studies (including analyzing competitor public data) to improve understanding of the SAGD process.
„h Assist in developing geostatistical models for numerical modeling.
„h Help develop tools/processes for SAGD optimization.
„h Support asset teams and coordination with R&D groups.
„h Assist senior engineers with monitoring, optimizing and analyzing data from the Pilot upon initial production.
Skills/Qualifications:
„h Bachelor of Engineering and 4+ years experience in reservoir engineering and experience working within an integrated team including Geology, Geophysics and other Engineering disciplines.
„h Reservoir experience in thermal recovery of bitumen is an asset.
„h Experience with STARS, Exotherm or Eclipse Thermal simulation is an asset.
„h The candidate must be a self-starter and be able to handle multiple projects at multiple phases, concurrently.
Compensation/Remuneration:
Compensation will include competitive base salary, bonus, long term incentive, and excellent benefits package.
