Quantitative Interpretation Geophysicist
Opportunities now exist for experienced quantitative interpretation geophysicists to work within the Geotechnical Operations Division in the Reservoir Geophysics team at the Woodside head office in Perth.
Responsibilities:
Perform quantitative/high level seismic interpretation in assigned areas/fields in support to the exploration and development assets for the purpose of prospect evaluation and risking, planning well drilling programs, building reservoir models and developing seismic reservoir monitoring programs.
Successful applicants will be expected to work closely with petrophysicists, geologists and asset geophysicists to integrate quantitative interpretation results into prospect evaluation and/or reservoir model building and monitoring.
The work scope generally encompasses:
* Involvement in planning processing/reprocessing activities for AVO interpretation.
* Amplitude and AVO interpretation;
* Seismic inversion;
* Preparation of seismic models to support amplitude interpretation and uncertainty estimation;
* Input to prospect evaluation and risking;
* Involvement in well planning;
* Involvement in preparing static reservoir models utilising seismic data;
* Identification and utilisation of new and emerging technologies.
As a Quantitative Interpretation Geophysicist, the selected candidate will be responsible for the technical quality of all specialist geophysical interpretation studies for their respective projects. This will involve supervision and mentoring of junior staff working on common projects either within the group or on assets. This is primarily a hand-on position however supervision of external contractors may occasionally be involved. • Sound knowledge of seismic acquisition and processing and their impact on quantitative seismic interpretation.
• Sound knowledge of rock physics and AVO.
• Have a good understanding of petrophysical interpretation for QI studies.
• Experienced hands-on user of RokDoc modelling software or similar with experience in higher-end modelling techniques.
• Experienced hands-on user of Jason Workbench inversion software or similar with experience in higher end seismic inversion techniques.
