Phalaborwa itself, situated near Kruger National Park, delivers a well balanced lifestyle and was voted the cleanest and safest municipality 2006 / 2007.   The incumbent will report to the Superintendent Safety and by virtue of his/her training, knowledge and experience, be able to identify any threat or potential threat to the health and safety of employees. Responsibilities will include to:·         Provide assistance to relevant operations department by conducting routine safety inspections in assigned area of responsibility.·         Analysis, preparation and presentation of safety and occupational health data to assigned area of responsibility on a regular basis.·         Compiling reports and advises on the safety and occupational health requirements.·         Participating in incident investigation in area of responsibility.·         Perform safety standby.·         Assist with internal SHEQ audits.·         Ensuring employee and contractor adherence to SHEQ standards. Intrinsic Qualities·         Good working knowledge of the surface operations core processes.·         Excellent understanding of the mines Integrated SHEQ system.·         Have the knowledge, ability and confidence to be able to identify potential hazards related to the job and take action to ensure all work is performed within the framework of safe work practices provided.·         Excellent communication skills.·         Sound knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act.·         Good computer skills and experience e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
