Reporting to the Supplier Quality Lead, The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is primarily responsible for managing all aspects of Supplier Quality within the supply chain. The SQE shall have a solid understanding of the supply chain business processes and have the ability to influence across the wide range of functional groups, both internal and external, to ensure business success.
This individual is the prime interface with suppliers on all quality matters.

The main aims of this role are:

• To establish a robust and sustainable solution to quality problems in purchased products / services
• To identify, assess and manage potential supplier quality issues in order to proactively minimise risks and prevent Aker Solutions exposure to supplier induced quality issues.
• The role requires flexibility, with visits to suppliers and other Aker Solutions sites worldwide.

Responsibilities and tasks

Include, but not limited to, the following:

• Investigation and timely resolution of supplier quality issues, driving root cause analysis through use of processes such as 8D and Taproot©
• Regular analysis of supplier performance, supporting the Supply Chain department in the generation of KPI scorecards.
• Develop improvement plans to drive long term supplier performance improvement with the aim of mitigating product quality risk.
• Generate and maintain Incoming Inspection Plans and Inspection Flags so that an appropriate level of inspection is undertaken at Goods Inwards Inspection, commensurate with supplier performance and product complexity/quality requirements.
• Understand project and customer contract requirements and ensure necessary flow down to suppliers for compliance.
• Understand supplier requirements for quality, ensuring that Aker Solutions supply timely and accurate information through drawings, specifications and quality requirements.
• Organise and facilitate ‘Design for Manufacture’ (DfM) programs between suppliers and Aker Solutions Engineering groups for key products.

Qualifications & personal attributes

Engineering Degree or equivalent
Lead Auditor
Demonstrable relevant experience of working in a QA department, preferably within the Oil & Gas industry.
A recognised Quality Assurance or Quality Management qualification
Formal training in the ISO 9001 Standard
