PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION
 
The Project Superintendent is responsible to manage all project construction, rehabilitation, repair and development activities at site to ensure the safe, efficient, economical and timely achievement of project objectives in accordance with customer and company parameters.
 
The Project Superintendent will demonstrate DMC’s core values of: Zero Harm, Respect and Integrity, Entrepreneurial Spirit, and Operational Excellence.
 
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Supervises project activities to ensure a safe, efficient, timely and economical operation is maintained. Through direct subordinates, ensures required manpower, equipment, material and supplies are available to meet daily objectives. Liaises with Maintenance, Engineering and other support personnel to ensure operational goals are met or exceeded. Draws upon all appropriate resources to identify and resolve any operational problems or delays. 
2. Ensures all project activities are performed safely and are in compliance with all environmental regulations. Ensures that regular safety and loss control training is provided to all project personnel and that all safety procedures, precautions and standards are adhered to. Monitors all operating procedures to ensure compliance with corporate environmental policies and procedures and regulatory standards. Identifies problems and initiates corrective action as required. 
3. Liaises with customer representatives and company personnel to develop and incorporate project scope changes, report on project activity, costs performance, etc. and makes recommendations with regard to Engineering, Maintenance, Estimating, Purchasing and Human Resource issues to ensure project objectives are properly bid and supported.
4. Prepares and presents daily, weekly, monthly and year-to-date reports, attends meetings with clients, corporate management and site personnel as required. Investigates workplace accidents and incidents and initiates corrective action. Carries out performance appraisals, makes salary recommendations, and monitors employee performance and initiates disciplinary action as required. 
5. Takes responsibility for aspects of occupational health and safety, and environmental matters, over which the individual has control, including adherence to all requirements applicable to DMC. 
6. Ensure that all direct reports in the workplace take responsibility for aspects of Occupational Health, Safety and Environment over which they have control including adherence to all O H S & E requirements applicable to DMC Mining Services. 
7. Such other duties as may be assigned from time to time

 
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• A minimum of 8 years of previous experience in a similar role.
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office
