SENIOR WELL TECHNOLOGIST – CONFORMANCE TECHNOLOGY

Purpose of the role

The Senior Well Technologist will be part of the Long Well Conformance Control team and will be tasked to identify new technologies to detect and treat non conformance in long reach horizontal wells as used in Denmark and Qatar. Following screening and ranking of competing technologies with peers and subsurface communities, the well technologist will take on the role of project manager for a number of technology development projects that are pursued by the team. The technology development projects are done in close cooperation with internationally based external vendors.

Projects that will be managed by the Well Technologist will require specific skills in the fields of well services and drilling engineering. Examples of such projects will be novel tool conveyance methods and optimizing well designs to maximize the effectiveness of post completion intervention and reservoir management.

As project manager for these projects, you will need to work closely both with vendors as well as with team members to ensure progress is made to plan, to ensure that work is carried out within budget and to ensure that progress is reported regularly to and to a high standard. The project management requires a high level of travel activity in periods.

Task description in detail:

Your role will comprise one or more of the following tasks:

• ·         To take up a project manager’s role for a number of already identified projects and some as yet to be identified projects, as required.
• ·         To provide well services and drilling engineering expertise to projects managed by colleagues on the LWC team.
• ·         To write functional specifications for to be developed technology in cooperation with subsurface teams and other members of the conformance control team.
• ·         To support field trials of new technologies, using your operational experience in the area of well interventions. This will be in a role as advisor during intervention programme preparation, but could also involve field presence during the trial.
• ·         To participate and / or lead design reviews with third parties, ensuring that planned technology developments fulfill functional specifications and are designed optimally,
• ·         To be an active team player, providing creative and innovative input into ongoing conformance technology screening studies. Mechanical as well as chemical methods are under consideration.

Your Qualifications:

• ·         B.Sc. Engineering or higher degree. 
• ·         Minimum 8-10 years relevant experience in Well Services, Drilling Engineering and Technology Development.
• ·         A strong affinity for technology development and implementation.
• ·         A high level of self motivation and ability to work independent.
• ·         Experience with planning / executing well interventions in horizontal wells. Including reach simulations for coiled tubing and tractor interventions.
• ·         Knowledge on corrosion and material selection.
