Maersk Oil Qatar AS is the leading oil producer offshore Qatar and a recognized pioneer in oil development and production techniques. On the basis of an Exploration and Production Sharing Agreement (EPSA) signed in 1992 with Qatar Petroleum, Maersk Oil Qatar (MOQ) is the sole operator of the Al Shaheen field.
The current oil production from the Al Shaheen field is approximately 300,000 barrels per day from nine different locations and is exported via two main offshore facilities.

Role Purpose
The Maintenance Assistant is on behalf of the Maintenance Supervisor responsible for the day to day safe and efficient planning and execution of “general” maintenance tasks. Specialized maintenance areas such as Telecom and Turbine are within the responsibility of other maintenance Assistants.
Key Accountabilities / Activities
General Duties:
- Ensure technical, economical, environmental and safety aspects in all matters within the area of responsibility are assessed in a businesslike manner prior to making decisions or recommendations.
- Ensure that all activities follow Company policies and procedures, hereunder confidentiality, as well as applicable Qatari laws, rules and regulations.
- Ensure timely preparation, hereunder obtaining approval as applicable, and submission of all documentation to meet obligations to authorities/partners.
- Develop and/or improve industrial and personal relations to protect Company interest and promote a productive working environment.
- Ensure that all information, written and verbal obtained in the course of the work is handled in strict confidence.
- To supervise daily activities in the maintenance department at the facility.
Specific Duties:
- Being the responsible for the planning, supervision and safe execution of general maintenance activities (replacement and repair jobs) on the platform – this involves supervision, follow up and making corrective actions as necessary.
- Ensure that the cooperation between off- and onshore maintenance departments is optimized and that all maintenance activities, documentation and reporting requirements are adhered to.
- Ensure optimal coordination between the different trades within maintenance (general maintenance, turbines & telecom).
- Ensure that lessons learned during execution of Maintenance work are included in future maintenance checks and tasks for all similar systems and equipment in the field and that such information is shared with onshore Maintenance.
- Ensure that lessons learned with regards to wrong design, wrong choice of materials, poor workmanship, MOQ standards not being followed etc. are brought forward to onshore Maintenance to include in Company standards, procedures, guidelines etc.
- · Proactively liaise with the production supervisor to ensure optimum planning and execution of all maintenance activities (daily and S/D activities) which requires shut down / isolation of equipment – special focus on safety, production optimization and uptime must be ensured.
- Ensure that “talent” is being identified, constantly monitored and developed for the entire maintenance crew – and also address and take any necessary corrective actions with regards to none or low performing personnel.
- Act as the Maintenance Supervisors deputy in his absence.
HSE Duties:
- Supervise implementation of company safety and environmental procedures.
- Constantly train and develop the Maintenance crew with special focus on process safety, optimization and maintaining good offshore practices and knowledge to company procedures and guidelines. Ensure that the training (and training needs) is well documented and constantly reviewed.
- Part of the Platform Emergency Response Contingency Plan as per Duty Rooster.
- Ensuring that own competencies are maintained and that Emergency Response Team under your supervision is fully equipped, qualified and trained in relevant emergency duties.

Knowledge / Technical Skills
- Flexible, have a good overview, strong leadership skills in multi cultural environment are mandatory, good communication skills and the ability to maintain calmness during upset situations.

Certifications Experience
- Engineer or experienced technician with several years’ relevant experience preferably with in offshore maintenance or production.
