Maersk Oil Kazakhstan is currently looking for a certified Welding Engineer to work in our Projects and Engineering Department reporting to the HSE/QA Manager, based in Aktau, Kazakhstan.

Main duties and responsibilities:

1. Comply with applicable safety instructions and other Company procedures, both onshore and offshore.
2. Make sure that assessments of safety, economic impact and technical importance are performed whenever required. Due diligence shall be observed and initiative taken to secure the best result.
3. Treat all information, both written and spoken, obtained in the course of the work with confidentiality.
4. Carry out work in compliance with:

• ·     Company values and policies
• ·     Relevant laws and regulations
• ·     Applicable contracts

1. Actively monitor work progress such that risks and problem areas are identified, reported and solutions identified.
2. Timely completion of assigned projects and tasks.
3. Bring forward suggestions for improvements in time and cost within the areas of responsibility.
4. Undertake any other work and responsibilities as per separate instruction.
5. Welding procedures, parameter check.
6. Visual inspection of welding.
7. Monitor storage of welding consumables
8. Welder’s qualifications.
9. Post Weld Heat Treatment.
10. Monitor performance of NDE operators
11. Evaluation of weld defects and repair rates
12. NDE carried out, spot check review of X-ray films.
13. Monitor calibration of NDE equipment

Required skills: 

• ·         CSWIP, TWI or equivalent certified welding and NDE inspector.
• ·         University degree in metallurgy and welding technologies or similar.
• ·         Minimum 10 years of relevant oil & gas experience. In particular, experience in development/preparation and qualification of welding and NDT procedures.

• Team player showing individual initiative, responsibility and integrity.
• Strong interpersonal and English communication skills – verbal and written.
• Capable of working in an international and multicultural environment.
• Proven knowledge and thorough understanding of Quality Assurance activities in connection with large scale Oil and Gas projects.
• Good general computer skills.
