Description
Northshore Mining Company, a subsidiary of Cliffs Natural Resources Inc, is a taconite mining and processing facility located in Northern Minnesota. The mining facility is located in Babbitt, MN, and the processing plant is located in Silver Bay, MN, on the Northshore of Lake Superior. We are currently accepting applications for multiple positions within Mine Maintenance. This position will be located in Babbitt, MN.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Perform various maintenance tasks on the shovel and drill fleet, crushing systems, components and general maintenance as requested. Position will be required to work a rotating shift schedule.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• Two-year degree in mechanical maintenance required or at least two-years of full-time applicable work experience.
• Must possess computer skills related to a computerized maintenance management system
• Prefer 2 or more years experience with troubleshooting and repair of Bucyrus Erie Shovels, P&H Shovels & Drills, and Gardner Denver Drills.
• Must possess demonstrated troubleshooting skills with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Proficient at assembly and installation of critical components (bearings, seals, gears, shafts, etc.).
• Demonstrated proficiency with the use of measuring instruments (O.D., I.D. and depth micrometers).
• Applicants will be required to demonstrate their welding proficiency to include all positions. Also must be proficient in burning and arc airing.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to read and interpret schematics, parts books, and technical manuals.
• Proficient at assembly and installation of critical components (bearings, seals, gears, etc.).
• Possess a good understanding of rigging and lifting. Crane (overhead and mobile) operation experience is a plus.
• Willing to work varying shifts on a rotating schedule and overtime as needed.
• Demonstrated safe working practices and excellent safety record.
• Excellent attendance record.
• Must achieve a satisfactory score on the Northshore Mining Co. Maintenance Assessment. Assessment test will be administered at the time of interview.
