Is seeking an experienced
SAFETY DIRECTOR
Located in Healy, Alaska
This position is responsible for the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of safety and health hazards at Usibelli Coal Mine, Inc. (UCM). The Safety Director will work with UCM personnel to minimize occupational health and safety risks and to manage compliance with applicable regulations for an operating coal mine in the interior of Alaska.
Experience/Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent such as Certified Safety Professional or Certified Mine Safety Professional designation, and a minimum of four years of experience preferred. Successful candidate will have or be able to obtain all necessary regulatory (MSHA) certifications required, such as dust, noise, methane/oxygen, surface certified etc.
The successful candidate; Must be able to work independently and have experience in the interpretation of complex regulations, and statues. Must possess effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work in an industrial environment. Will conduct site-based training for all new employees, visitors, contractors and vendors. The incumbent will take the lead in MSHA inspections. Successful candidate must pass a post-offer physical and drug test.
