CH2M HILL Project Controls Specialist Careers – Prudhoe Bay, Alaska

Our Project Controls Specialist job will provide you with the opportunity to work on exciting, large scale oil and gas projects on the North Slope of Alaska on a rotational basis. Each day, you will be an important team member developing and monitoring schedules and controlling costs for a project of moderate to large size and complexity. You should be a self motivated, detail oriented professional with 4 years project controls experience and a BA/BS degree in engineering or relevant field, and prior experience working on the North Slope.
Our Project Controls Specialists:
- Under general supervision, performs more complex project controls assignments.
- Responsible for supporting a project team in the execution of all project controls processes and systems on small or medium sized projects.
- With additional experience within one specialty, expected to assist in the preparation of larger and more complex project controls assignments.
- Establishes initial project budgets and prepares subsequent budget updates for all design and/or construction activities based on an estimate of the selected design alternatives.
- Reviews trend analyses, budget updates, and recommendations for corrective action to assure compliance with company and client requirements.
- Participates in the preparation of complex phases of the Project Milestone Schedule, Engineering, and Construction Summary Bar Chart and Master Project Schedule.
- Prepares Schedule Analysis Report to identify impact of progress and scope changes on previously scheduled target dates.
- Prepares Performance Measurement Summary to evaluate the utilization of actual man-hours versus budget.
- Conducts schedule review meetings to discuss project status and to assist in planning and developing alternatives to accommodate changes in priorities.
- Integrates project estimate and schedule to forecast cash flow requirements.
- Collaborates with Project Engineers, Project Managers, and clients to review preliminary cost estimate and select appropriate design alternative.
- Reviews and prepares various cost control/performance measurement reports, forecasts and special studies.
- Participates in value engineering analyses, productivity evaluations and other similar studies.
- Prepares conceptual, preliminary and definitive estimates.
- Obtains data on project progress, logic and manpower from lead project, contractor or client personnel.
- Reviews analyses submitted by subordinate personnel to identify potential areas, submitting recommendation for corrective action to Project Manager for conclusion in monthly project status report.
- Analyzes estimated quantities, man-hours, and cost data for all segments of work in support of project plan development and performance measurement system.
- Recommends adjustments to manpower requirements and rearranges work plans to optimize utilization of resources.
Additional Information: The position is project specific, duties typically located on the North Slope and requires a rotational work schedule (either 3 weeks on and 2 weeks off or 4 weeks on and 2 weeks off). Project demands may require that support occur from the Anchorage office, M-F 8am - 5pm. Must have flexibility in schedule. Relocation assistance to Alaska is not provided, however transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided. CH2M HILL will not sponsor an employment visa (e.g., H-1B visa, etc) to fill this position.
Basic Qualifications
- BS in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management or related field, or equivalent additional 4 years of experience in project controls
- 4 years scheduling experience in a construction or engineering environment using Primavera
- Understands the objectives of in project controls and related regulatory and/or industry requirements and practices
- Capability to apply diversified knowledge of project controls principals and practices
- Capability to make independent decisions on significant projects controls
- Possess current knowledge of educational business development and organizational practices
- Have excellent written and oral communications applicable to standards set by organization
- Computer skills commensurate with program and job applications, including proficient user of Primavera
