Description

The Seismologist / Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for detailed mine seismological analysis on a daily basis, seismic system health checks & other geotechnical  work as directed by the Geotechnical Superintendent. There is also a focus on Pastefill work. Overall the work is aimed assisting the business to manage Geotechnical risks and meet its safety and production targets.

Role Qualification reqiuired:

Appropriate graduate qualification and seismic analysis coursework completed. Post-graduate qualification preferred. Qualifications appropriate to work as a mine seismologist.

Must hold a Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence or equivalent.

Work Knowledge:

·         At least 2 years experience as a seismologist in hard-rock mining

·         Geotechnical working experience of 1 year required (rock mechanics)

·         Management of seismicity experience

·         Geotechnical coursework completed (rock mechanics)

·         Demonstrated success in working as a mine seismologist

Computer Skills:

·         Experience with mine design software, ability to acquire skills in new packages rapidly

·         Good working experience with MAP3D Numerical software package

·         Good knowledge of JDi Seismic analysis software package, and ability to become  specialist in MS-RAP seismic package.

·         Good skills in spreadsheet and presentation applications, word processing and database applications.

Communication Skills:

·         Ability to communicate effectively across all levels  

·         Strong report writing and presentation skills
