Position Summary:

The Senior Engineer will be responsible for the efficient planning and execution of engineering activities. The incumbent will be responsible for short- and long-range mine planning and engineering, new project engineering, mine reserve studies, feasibility studies, permitting, mine scheduling, and capital equipment justification.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:

•  Develop long-and short-term, fully engineered mine plans to maximize coal recovery in a safe and efficient manner. 
• Develop and review engineering reports for clarity, consistency, accuracy of technical information and economic justification. 
• Prepare, recommend, and present engineering plans and cost estimates for expansion at present operations. 
• Responsible for mine economics, mine modeling, as well as forecasting and budgeting. 
• Act as liaison with all governmental and regulatory agencies as necessary. Present the Company's programs and positions on environmental issues to third parties, including regulatory agencies and public interest groups. 
• Identify permit requirements, initiate necessary actions, and coordinate permit preparation. Manage administrative duties in connection with permitting, monitoring and compliance with environmental regulations on local and national levels. 
• Coordinate and direct work with outside consulting, engineering, and construction firms. Engage consultants and subcontractors as necessary. 
• Maintain effective communication with operating units and provide engineering assistance whenever requested. Consult with operations management personnel on operational issues and challenges. 
• Maintain awareness of all applicable national and local regulations, and develop and maintain all plans necessary for approval. 
• Maintain membership in professional and industrial organizations and represent corporation's position on matters of engineering policy and procedure. 
• Stay abreast of technological, state-of-the-art advances. Remain current on engineering and industry best practices and technology. 
• Support Southwest mines by providing help with mine economics, mine modeling, forecasting, budgets, reclamation plans, and end of month activities as necessary.

Successful Candidate Will Possess:

• A Bachelors Degree in Mining Engineering - required. 
• A Professional Engineering Registration - strongly preferred. 
• A graduate degree - a plus. 
• A　minimum of 7+ years of engineering experience - required. 
• A background that includes surface expertise　- required. 
• Experience in computer application/modeling - a plus. 
• Previous experience with financial evaluations as well as capital and operating budgets for mining projects and operations - required.
