Xstrata Zinc currently has a vacancy for a Senior Long Term Planning Engineer within our McArthur River Mine site. McArthur River Mining Pty Ltd operates a zinc-lead-silver mine in which 2.2 million tonnes of ore is extracted each year. McArthur River Mine is a Fly-in, Fly-out operation based from Darwin, located in the Gulf of Carpentaria region of the Northern Territory.

This position will report to the Technical Services Superintendent.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

Provide accurate and timely Long Term Plans and support for production and services operations
Long term schedules for waste dumps
Review pit and dump designs to ensure optimisation of operational resources
Identify business opportunities through strategic long term planning
Deliver annual operating schedules and budgets

Expected qualifications include:

Relevant degree qualified

A minimum of 5 years experience in mining and previous experience in long term mine planning is essential. Experience using Vulcan and XPAC software would be highly regarded.

Roster: 4 days on, 3 days off
