Opportunities currently exist within the George Fisher Technical Services department for two Rock Mechanic Engineers. This position will report to the Superintendent of Rock Mechanics and flexible rostering options are available.

Your duties will include the integration of rock mechanics design into the mine planning process at the George Fisher Mine. You will be responsible for ensuring mine development and production activities and active mine areas are maintained to ensure an acceptable level of risk from geotechnical hazards by coordinating all daily and long-term geotechnical requirements for the section. This involves considerable interaction with operations and planning staff in design, blasting practices and major ground reinforcement design.

Ideally, you will possess tertiary qualifications, experience in a hard rock underground mine environment, experience in the application ofempirical and numerical modelling techniques, a safety conscious approach to work and strong communication skills.
