Description:
Main Office Location – Bogota, with frequent stays in the field
Qualifications
Degree in geology required. 10+ years experience in coal exploration, underground mining experience preferred. Spanish speaking skills preferred. Previous project management experience required. The ability to travel frequently and endure extended stays outside the United States. The ability to communicate with all levels of management required.
Responsibilities
Design, budget, execute and present results from coal exploration programs on properties identified and originated by the Colombian Business Development Group
Preparation and execution of drilling program
Team selection and training
Negotiation of contracts with third party suppliers / service providers
Recording of data and interpretation
Negotiation and monitoring of special services (LiDAR, aerial photography, geophysical, etc.
Supervises overall quality control program, sample handling for lab analyses and evaluation of results of seam quality and characteristics
Creation of project maps to include:
Topographical maps with standardized GPS coordinates from 3rd party LiDAR Flyover
Developing project map on topographic base with , cultural features, seam outcrop data , subsidence areas, old workings, etc developed through field mapping procedures with data input of same for plotting.
Seam thickness isopach maps
Seam structure maps
Seam quality isopach maps
Familiarity with geologic mapping and modeling software to create:
Drilling Database with lithology, seam characteristics and quality data
Project Geologic model with reserve estimates
Seam cross sections and fence diagrams
Assist with environmental impact studies
Maintain direct interface with third party service providers
Liaise with corporate Environmental Department at the discretion of VP Coal Development
Liaise with local environmental authorities at the discretion of Manager – Colombian Business Development
Prepare and review all reports regarding exploration activities as required by the company or governmental authorities
Present all exploration findings to the company or third parties as required
Assist in formulating preliminary mine plans and operating budgets
Assist in preparing formal solicitations to government entities regarding exploration and mining permits
Build the capacity to execute and manage multiple exploration projects in parallel
