A risk manager coordinates four activity levels---risk identification, evaluation mitigation and monitoring. The identification of risks is enabled by the ERM Governance Manual, which helps employees document and rate risks inherent in operating activities. Risk evaluation may be performed with sophisticated statistical formulas or computer models, such as math-based methodologies (value at risk---VAR---or stress testing) used in calculating market risk. Risk monitoring activities may include periodic internal audit reviews

• Be able to provide input and advice on operational, financial and strategic risks

Strategy

• Help with the design and implementation of an overall strategic risk management process for Ma’aden by determining the process of identifying and assessing the risks affecting the business.
• Assist management with integrating risk management with the strategic development process (OGAMS)
• Provide support and advice in risk identification, mitigation, and action plans and work closely with operational senior management to help facilitate and co-ordinate in implementation of risk management.
• Evaluate potential expansions and new projects in order to develop,  facilitate and co-ordinate the development of risk controls within the operating units and functional areas of Ma’aden
• Monitor, evaluate and challenge the risk registers supplied by the operation units and functional areas.
• Facilitate the identification of risks utilising appropriate tools and techniques as well as appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
• Help develop and implement a strategic ERM plan
• Facilitate and co-ordinate the compilation of strategic risk registers
• Work with the operating units and functional areas to establish, maintain and continuously improve risk management capabilities
• Helps to ensure effective alignment between the ERM process and internal audit
• Be able to help develop and implement an IT strategy to support ERM
  • To prepare risk reports on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Prepare and present workshops
  • Co-ordinating the flow of risk information to ensure that interfaces within projects are effectively managed

• Help develop, implement and maintain an ERM framework and supporting policies and procedures
• Maintains Ma’aden risk policies, mitigation procedure and guidelines to ensure compliance; deploy it to the organization in order to provide the organization simple guidelines to minimize risk

Operational Risk

• Implement risk assessment methodologies, models and systems
• Support the business in risk identification, analysis and mitigation.
• Facilitate the identification of risks utilising appropriate tools and techniques
• Facilitate the compilation of operational risk registers
• Report all relevant ERM matters including; findings, risk positions and recommendations to relevant stakeholders

Financial Risk

• Help develop guidelines for financial and commercial risk and then be involved in embedding them
• Facilitate the identification of risks utilising appropriate tools and techniques
• Report all relevant ERM matters including; findings, risk positions and recommendations to relevant stakeholders

• Be up to date with current risk management practices in financial areas such as, but not limited to:  Interest rate risk, credit risk, liquidity risk, capital analysis, hedging activities.

• Support the business in risk identification, analysis and mitigation management. Facilitate the identification of risks utilising appropriate tools and techniques
• Report all relevant ERM matters including; findings, risk positions and recommendations to relevant stakeholders

Presentations

• Conduct risk management education and training as required
• Makes presentations on Enterprise Risk Management as required

Recognised risk management qualification as well as a degree from an approved university

At least   12 – 15 years working within risk management, preferably within the mining industry, however not a prerequisite
