BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) is Australia's largest coal producer, with nine mine sites and a coal loading port in Central Queensland. Due to growth the BMA Supply function is in search of a strategic and operationally focused Specialist Logistics. Reporting to the Superintendent Inventory Optimisation, the key objectives of this role is ensure efficiencies in freight optimisation at an operational, tactical and strategic level, as well as freight cost reductions with the key responsibilities to include;
• Monitoring the quality, quantity, cost and efficiency of the movement and storage of goods.
• Develop site wide communication reports and analyse data to monitor performance and initiate logistics supply chain improvement initiatives.
• Provide technical advice on road transport and logistics supply chain to ensure zero harm and compliance to statutory obligations.
• Execute work procedures accurately and in a timely manner.
• Embedding key safety processes designed by the function within operations to ensure compliance requirements are met.
• Support warehousing processes, including inbound and outbound logistics to support operations and shutdowns.
• Organise contract reviews and compile reports on vendor delivery performance.
The successful incumbent will have an established career in the supply chain space with a focus on strategic logistics solutions with a track record in packaging and transport safety. Ideally you will have previous involvement in lean methodology, experience in mining or heavy industry and tertiary qualifications in logistics management or a similar discipline.
