Job description:

The Process Engineer for A4 CO is part of a multi-disciplined Manufacturing Team; accountable for selecting, developing and implementing improvement strategies for plant availability, compliance, production creep and manufacturing cost reduction proposals for the A4 CO process. The post holder also provides process engineering consultancy, manufacturing support and management of change chemical engineering approval for this plant.• The Postholder will be the Process Engineer for the A4 CO process and provide technical support for Operations, Delivery, HSE and Project Teams.

• Develop and implement improvement strategies for plant availability, legislative and integrity compliance, production creep and product cost reduction proposals for A4 CO.

• Asset life monitoring and vulnerability intervention for A4 CO.

• Preparation of and manage the vulnerability and opportunity list, with manufacturing input, for A4 CO. This will include identification of TAR modifications work scope. Review of results from condition monitoring programs for A4 CO.

• Control the Management of Change system for A4 CO.

• Provide effective support for the definition of A4 CO capex front end loading, to ensure that projects are delivered to the end of select to the required time-scale, technical and HSE standard and that the costs are commensurate with the benefit. Support selected options through to execute.

• Prepare complex modifications for exceptional revenue proposals for A4 CO, to resolve medium and long term vulnerabilities.

• Support chemical engineering discipline health and renewal for Hull site by recruitment, mentoring, training and development of Interns and Graduate Engineers as required.

• Support Hull Manufacturing and the Acetyls Business Unit by providing knowledge, experience and skills primarily in the areas of process safety, for example, supporting HAZOPs, PHSSERs, RBI, Plant Start-up Audits, Incident Investigation and Value Improvements Studies within the Capital Value Process.

• Promoting behavioural safety by Managements Tours, Task Observations and Near Miss reporting across Hull Manufacturing.

• Membership of Site Incident Management Team rota may be required, when established in role.

• Learn the A5 CO process, such that effective cover can eventually be provided for the equivalent role for this plant.
• Degree (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering.

• Chartered Member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (or equivalent), or an Associate who is actively working towards chartered status, with an expectation of achieving this within 3 years.
• Relevant industrial experience, ideally including plant operations and design in a petrochemicals, refining or oil and gas environment.

• A proven record of being able to work successfully in a multi-discipline team environment.

• The diversity of the role requires strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills in order to be able to communicate effectively at all levels.
The ability to form networks and influence is essential to achieve the co-operation of others whose skills, knowledge and experience are vital to the development of the process and process packages.• A working knowledge of process assurance, particularly experience of HAZOP studies, LOPA, area classification, process commissioning and current legislative requirements e.g. COMAH and IPPC.

• Experience of management of change in a manufacturing environment.

• An appreciation of the commercial impact of proposals on the business and the ability to prepare discounted cash flow benefits analysis.

• A good working knowledge of national and international codes and standards relevant to process design and equipment selection.

• A good working knowledge of simulation tools and process design software tools e.g. Aspen and HTRI.
