Role synopsisThe Site High Voltage (HV) Engineer forms part of a multi-disciplined engineering team and is responsible for the management, operation and development of the HV network at the BP Saltend Chemicals Park.Key accountabilities• Manage, develop and safely operate the HV network at the BP Saltend Chemicals Park, switchgear and HV electrical rotating equipment compliant with Company and recognised industry standards to ensure legislative and integrity compliance.

• Recognised by internal and external bodies / regulators as the ‘Site HV Electrical Engineer’, ‘Duty Holder’ and ‘Senior Authorized Person’ for the high voltage distribution network (up to and inclusive of 33kV).

• Electrical control of work responsible for permit to work, sanction to test and limitation of access signatory site wide.

• Responsible for the training and authorization of site personnel to operate the HV systems in-line with the site and company HV safety rules.

• Provide specialist engineering support for HV systems, for life cycle phases of: design, development, modification, commissioning and ensure compliance with industry and Company standards, this could also include low voltage system support for complex or distribution systems.

• Develop the emergency response and contingency plans for site electrical failures, including emergency exercises.

• Management of building and facilities ensure building maintenance, standards and legislative requirements are adhered to and executed in a timely and effective manner.Essential EducationMinimum HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering.Essential experience and job requirements• Significant experience of working on HV distribution networks and equipment.

• Senior Authorised Person and experience of managing a HV distribution system.Desirable criteria & qualifications• Design and maintenance experience of low voltage installations.

• City and Guilds 2400 Design and Verification.

• City and Guilds 2391 Inspection and Test.
