Aerotek’s client, an EPCM firm/Owners Representative, has an opening for a project/contract position for a Chief SCADA Manager. This candidate is a key player for the project and has a large amount of control, input and responsibly over Project Controls department. They project is a multi-billion dollar mining project in South America. The project is in the pre-construction phase currently and is scheduled to move to construction in early 2013. During the pre-construction phase, they will be based out of Vancouver, BC with 25% travel locally in BC and to South America. Travel is 100% covered both locally and internationally and when flying internationally the company always flies their employees in business class. When the project enters into the construction phase (early 2013), the selected candidate will be on either a FIFO (fly-in fly-out) schedule or living in Peru for the duration of the project (they leave this with the preference of the selected candidate).
From a qualification stand point, our client is looking for at least a University Bachelors Degree in an appropriate engineering discipline. Along with an engineering foundation, they are looking for candidates to come with 3 years of experience in instrumentation and control with specialization in SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition), as well as process control programming languages such as PLC (programmable logic controller) with AB (Allen Bradley) or similar systems in critical to the role. Having a PE or having a P Eng in Canada or IEEE will be advantageous for the role. Specialized training in PLC, Automation, and SCADA system is encouraged and considered an asset for this position. As a lead subject matter expert, the incumbent will work in one large Engineering team for a multi billion dollar copper project with limited direction from the Engineering Manager. They will be interfacing with the client organization and EPCM contractor through the multiple phases of the project. Due to the nature of this project, it would be an asset for a candidate to be bilingual in Spanish and English (verbal). This employee should take a proactive approach and he hands on in reviewing engineering calculation, scope of work, reviewing of the EPCM contractor’s deliverables as discipline lead across all areas of the this discipline on the project. The candidate, as stated above, should be flexible to travel locally and internationally on scheduled commuting, as well as to work remotely.
