Senior GIS Analyst - SMT Kingdom Required
Job Summary:
Creates presentation quality maps to support the E&P business. Performs spatial data analysis, attribution, management, and is responsible for applying quality control procedures on the data to ensure its accuracy. Performs spatial file-based database design, creation, and optimization, as well as develop customized GIS tools. Supports the asset team for whom they work and works closely with the GIS Team by identifying and collecting appropriate asset team spatial data, and by documenting and standardizing data management workflow processes and data attributes. This is a high level technical position.
Qualifications:
Must have ten years of GIS experience with the last two as a GIS Analyst or similar role. Should have obtained experience at a four-year college, two-year college, trade school, or vocational school in a related field such as Geography, Geology, Computer Science, or Urban Planning. Must have an understanding of the exploration and production business. Expert level knowledge of and experience with ESRI Desktop products and other GIS/CAD & graphics drawing applications is required. Must be a recognized expert in cartography, geography, attribute, and spatial concepts and data. Must be proficient with MS Office products Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word with proven abilities with Oracle or MS SQL. Advanced project support experience using ESRI Desktop products and programming languages including VBA/.NET/Python is required. Requires highly advanced technical knowledge of GIS, and is viewed as an expert.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Designs, creates, and modifies, or manages GIS software in support of New Ventures E&P activities.
2. Develops spatial and non-spatial databases, provides technical support to other GIS professionals, and provides documentation support.
3. Develops and implements specific GIS tools to assist end users with daily mapping and analysis as needed.
4. Serves as a leader/consultant in defining and developing solutions to complex E&P challenges.
5. Acts as a technical leader within the group who consistently produces quality work that integrates traditional, modified, and new approaches and technologies.
6. Influences others, internally and externally to achieve objectives or cause action.
7. Develops solutions to highly complex problems, which affect the business groups department. Gathers innovative/non-traditional ideas and applying them to solutions of strategic business importance.
8. Makes decisions that reflect multi-functional perspectives and balance. Decisions contribute to precedent-setting solutions/innovations. Very difficult, highly complex and most unusual matters are referred to more senior authority, together with incumbents recommendations.
9. Utilizes expertise in one or more technical/business specialty(ies) for successful completion.
10. Takes responsibility for entire large projects, including coordinating resources among departments, producing results and meeting goals. Provides leadership to less experienced personnel on projects.
11. Designs, writes, and maintains detailed process documentation.
12. Searches for and mines data from disparate external sources.
13. Creates and presents in-house training material.
14. Provides reliable and professional GIS support to the user community.
15. Performs tasks independently and without supervision.
