PASTE SUPERINTENDENT

African Barrick Gold’s Bulyanhulu Gold Mine seeks an experienced Paste Superintendent. The Paste Superintendent will be a key discipline leader and decision maker in all aspects of paste backfill methodologies, planning, engineering, and execution. This position will report to the Mining Manager and the rotational roster will be 6 weeks on and 3 weeks off.

KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Develop safe operating procedures for paste backfilling
• Monitor the operational and mechanical performance of both the Underground Paste Plant and Mill site Pumping Facility.
• Coordinate maintenance activities
• Develop production reporting protocols
• Implement systems for short / long term schedules and cost forecasts, as well as QA/QC procedures and reporting systems
• Coordinate backfilling planning, schedules, and daily operations with mine production and engineering groups
• Mentor and develop the national workforce
• Identify, initiate and manage continuous improvement projects related to all aspects of paste production, processes, systems and distribution

PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES

Education Requirements:
• Bachelor’s in Mining or Metallurgical Engineering or closely related area

Experience Requirements:
• Eight years experience in underground engineering operations and operations, specifically paste plant
• Two years experience directly involved in mine backfilling operations
• Knowledge of all underground equipment used for process
• Ability to change paste filling aspects and / or design regarding field conditions
• Solid project management, leadership and training skills
• Computer literacy in MS Office Suite
• Experience with large financial budgets
