As the second largest supplier to global iron ore trade, we provide unrivalled flexibility through our world-class network of 14 mines, three port terminals and 1,400 kilometre rail system in Western Australia's Pilbara region. We're about to undertake the largest mining project in Australia to expand our annual capacity to 283 million tonnes per annum, on a pathway to 333 million tonnes. Our Technical Services division is currently seeking a Medium Term Planning Engineer to join their team at Brockman 4. Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, you will be responsible for the preparation of the medium term 5 year mine plans. Brockman 4 operations is located 26 km south west of the Brockman 2/ Nammuldi Mine in the West Pilbara, and has an estimated mine life of over 20 years.  Commencing pre-strip in late 2009 and ramping up to 22 Mt/a SOP, approval has been received to further expand Brockman 4 operations to 40 Mt/a SOP. Key Responsibilities

• Delivery of medium term mine plans (spanning 2~3 year time frame) and 5 year mine plans, reports and presentations on a quarterly basis, in a timely manner
• Mine development with an extraction sequence meeting tonnage, quality and cost objectives
• Conformance with long-term plans/objectives.
• Identify and clearly communicate key aspects of each quarterly mine plan (specifically mine development issues, risks and opportunities, plan outcomes in terms of production, mine sequencing, changes between plans)
• Initiate ground disturbance approvals based on Medium Term Plan requirements for pits, dumps, roads and rehabilitation.
• Identify, schedule, prioritise and monitor key work required to deliver on the current Site Mine Production Plans
• Identify value add opportunities in terms of haul profiles, pit access, stripping requirements

Role Requirements

• Tertiary qualifications in mining engineering or a related discipline
• Exposure to mining operations, iron ore experience will be high regarded
• Previous medium term planning experience is desired
• Exposure to mine scheduling & design
• Vulcan and XPAC software experience
• A high level of communication, initiative & willingness to work in a team environment
