Ma’aden Rolling Mill — Quality & Technology Manager

Job description:

We are looking for an experienced Quality & Technology Manager to join the Rolling Mill Commissioning and Start-up team on the Ma’aden Alcoa joint venture to develop a fully integrated, world class Aluminum Rolling Mill in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The primary purpose of this position is to support and lead the Management and Start-up team to ensure that the plants quality policy is promoted and compiled with the quality and environmental management systems (ISO 9002 and ISO 14001) for the rolling mill at Ras Al-Khair. The incumbent will lead and supervise the hiring and training of the permanent Quality & Technology team.

Main accountabilities:

  • Support plant environmental goals and policies for waste minimization/pollution prevention by monitoring environmental performance.
  • Ensure the Quality management system is in compliance with the requirements of the ISO 9000 and ISO 14001 management system standards.
  • Serve as Management representative and responsible for the leading efforts to maintain ISO certification and coordination for the Quality and Environmental Management System.
  • Responsible for insuring analytical instrumentation maintenance and accuracy of analytical data reported by the Laboratory.
  • Plan/schedule and conduct (lead) audits for the quality and environmental management system and internal self-assessment designed to ensure compliance with local and international standards requirements.
  • Responsible to collaborate with Process Development to build, design, and validate raw material, in-process and final product QC tests.
  • Insure the accuracy of all department testing and analytical data through implementation of SPC quality assurance principles and final review practice for all procedures.
  • Manage, direct and motivate personnel to achieve department goals and objectives in a timely and safe manner, while continuously striving to improve personnel skills and department efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Identify training needs for the employees and organize appropriate training sessions.
  • Find and train a permanent replacement.
  • Lead and supervise the hiring and training of the local Quality team.

Length of assignment: 2-3 years
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in industrial quality management.
  • BS Statistics, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Practical experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and/ Statistical Process Control.
  • Working experience with ISO 9001 qualified manufacturing systems.
  • Familiarity with the rolling process.
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment.
