Maersk Oil Qatar AS is the leading oil producer offshore Qatar and a recognized pioneer in oil development and production techniques.

On the basis of an Exploration and Production Sharing Agreement (EPSA) signed in 1992 with Qatar Petroleum, Maersk Oil Qatar (MOQ) is the sole operator of the Al Shaheen field.

The current oil production from the Al Shaheen field is approximately 330,000 barrels per day from nine different locations and is exported via two main offshore facilities.  

Purpose:

The role of the Lead Petrophysicist will include providing petrophysical insight relevant for the development of enhanced oil recovery and studies related to increasing the recovery from the field. In addition, the lead petrophysicist will engage in well and reservoir management reviews to increase the well potential of the field.

Key Accountabilities:

• Propose and perform analytical studies for coring and core analysis, capturing the petrophysical challenges of the reservoirs under development
• Propose logging tools and methods for analysis of enhanced oil recovery pilots and well performance
• Provide petrophysical input and assurance for reservoir reserves reporting and hydrocarbon maturation plans
• Prioritize petrophysical studies to improve development and recovery from reservoirs
• Evaluate well pattern performance in comparison to reservoir simulation models (e.g. high permeability zones and faults and fractures)
• Provide input to geological sector models to maximize field well potential and recovery
• Selection and maintenance of petrophysical evaluation systems
• Document and report petrophysical evaluations and results with emphasis on increasing the recovery from the field
• Coordinate the preparation of budget estimates for petrophysical core analysis, special studies and software acquisition
• Cost control and verification of invoices in accordance with contracts and the work performed
• Maintain consistency of accepted working practices and develop best practices
• Promote business awareness in decisions and recommendations in the middle to long term
• Petrophysical safety awareness

Education

• B.Sc or higher in geoscience, engineering or physics

Experience
