The Lucky Friday Mine is a deep underground silver, lead, and zinc mine located one mile east of the town of Mullan in the Coeur d’Alene Mining District in northern Idaho. The Lucky Friday has been owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company, headquartered in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, since 1958. Established in 1891 in one of the world’s most prolific silver-producing districts, northern Idaho’s Silver Valley, Hecla Mining Company’s rich history of mining has distinguished it as a respected precious metals producer. SUMMARY
Using established procedures, visually inspects and collects underground geologic samples, correlates data, evaluates assays and advises appropriate personnel responsible for production activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Promotes safe and environmentally compliant work activities at all times.
Maintains compliance with all local, state, federal (including MSHA and ATF) and company standards and guidelines for safety, health, environment, human resources, and sustainable development.
Performs sampling, mapping, and mining guidance in production geology activities which include stope production, ramp development, and initial vein development.
Provides hands-on coordination with the Mine Superintendent and Mine Foreman for stope mining plans and initial vein development plans, as well as providing all other geologic information which is pertinent to mine planning and mining activities.
Responsible for monthly production reconciliations and reports for final review by the Chief Mine Geologist.
Demonstrates required behavioral skills including productive communication, cooperation, productivity, initiative, creativity, dependability.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
BS in geology or related field from a four-year college or university; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. One year experience in exploration or mining geology preferred, preferably underground.
