Role synopsisThe Mechanical Engineer role forms part of a multi-disciplined team which is accountable for selecting, developing and implementing medium to long term improvement strategies to drive improvements in plant availability, legislative and integrity compliance, production creep as well as developing product cost reduction proposals.

The Mechanical Engineer role interfaces with a number of key stakeholders and is involved in the identification and execution of a broad range of asset and procedural improvements.Key accountabilities• Owner of mechanical assets within defined geographical area.

• Accountability for fixed cost maintenance and stores working capital budgets.

• Accountable for the delivery of the maintenance strategy, policies, routines and procedures.

• Provide technical support to a variety of teams across the site including the Operations, Delivery, Licensing and Project teams.

• Provide technical support during turnarounds.

• Accountable for asset life monitoring and vulnerability mitigation.

• Primary accountability for Asset Change Management specification and assurance.

• Promoting behavioural safety through management tours, task observations and near miss reporting.

• Provide support to Technical Safety and Integrity Reviews.

• Development and implementation of improvement strategies for plant availability, legislative and integrity compliance, production creep and product cost reduction proposals.

• Vulnerability and opportunity list compilation, ownership, prioritisation and resolution to and from agreed transition point with other teams.Essential Education• University degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.

• Chartered Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (or industry recognised equivalent), or an Associate who is actively working towards chartered status.Essential experience and job requirements• Significant experience and good understanding of maintenance practices to manage plant availability.
