Position Description

Within Australia, Peabody Energy has 11 operations in Queensland and New South Wales and is actively pursuing growth plans with a view to being a long-term participant in the Australian coal industry and continues to supply the high-growth Asian coal markets.

Our Wilkie Creek mine is situated in the Surat Basin of south-east Queensland, conveniently located approximately 40km from Dalby. This open-cut mine has 380 million tonnes of recoverable coal and is currently producing about 2.3 million tonnes of low sulphur, low nitrogen, environmentally superior thermal coal, for supply to its established export customer base.

Working closely with the operational teams, you will perform duties including:

Planning, coordinating and improving geological functions;
Manage the mine geology plans;
Manage surface drilling operations;
Supervise mapping Interpret and monitor our pits;
Ensure environmental and safety compliance is maintained Develop and deliver geological reports as required

To be successful in this position you will possess the following:

Relevant qualifications in geology or similar, geotechnical capabilities;
Previous experience in a similar role, ideally in a coal operation;
A good understanding of geological databases and modelling;
A proven track record of implementing safe work practices.
