Role synopsisBP Exploration is looking to recruit two BP Rig Lead Design Engineer within the Global Wells Organisation. The roles will be part of the central Rig Engineering team with one located in Houston (USA) and the other in Sunbury on Thames (UK). The successful candidate will report to the BP Design Manager.
Key roles will include:
The successful candidates will support the BP Rig Design Manager and the Global Project Organisation (GPO) to design and deliver BP owned rigs. The focus will be to ensure safe design, quality build of rigs and for the rigs to deliver safe and compliant well operations.Key accountabilities- Input Global Well Organisation (GWO) standards to the Project during the rig concept selection, detailed design, equipment delivery, build, commissioning & handover to Regional GWO team
- Provide verification to the Rig Design Manager that standards are being complied with in the areas of Rig design and build.
- Support Inherently Safer Design to improve Safety and Operations Integrity performance related to the design the BP owned rigs through participation of MAR, ISD, HAZID, HAZOP reviews
- Provide GWO input to the Project quality assurance for detailed design, equipment delivery, build & commissioning activities
- Standardise HSE and operational requirements of the design by the application of the BP Rig Design Guidelines
- Drive learning and continuous improvements in rig design back in to the BP Rig Design Guidelines
- Ensure compliance of the rig design with GWO OMS requirements
- Support Project PSCM strategy in the areas of rig design and supply of major rig equipment
- Identify and support implementation of rig design & related equipment technology requirements
- Implement Operations Readiness programme requirements within the Project Rig Delivery team during the Define & Execute phases
- Facilitate rig handover from Project to Operations such that Operations have full ownership of the rig at end of the rig SIT
- Capture learning related to rig build and provide feedback to the applicable standardsEssential EducationBSc in Science, Technology or EngineeringEssential experience and job requirementsDemonstrates experience with a good knowledge of
Project Management, drilling operations and rig design, construction and commissioning.Other essential skills and knowledgeKnowledge of Project Management techniques.
