Description

 Skilled workers in the electrical/instrumentation field whose duties include but are not limited to removal, repair and installation of electrical components and basic to intermediate troubleshooting.  Employee will work under minimal supervision where the primary objective is safe production.

  • The safe completion of routine and non-routine repairs and construction
  • Performing preventative maintenance, installation and repair of industrial electrical and/or instrumentation equipment (i.e. substations, power distribution systems, switchgear motors, motor controls, systems and components, process controls, instrumentation and pneumatic equipment)
  • Assisting with troubleshooting of industrial electrical and/or instrumentation equipment 
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Completion of an approved certified electronics, electrical and/or instrumentation program or minimum of two (2) years experience or a combination of education and experience in industrial electrical and/or instrumentation repair and maintenance 
  • Basic experience in the maintenance and repair of electrical circuits and connected equipment 
  • Valid state driver's license 
  • Effective written, verbal, and communication skills to satisfy training, safety, and electronic message transmission policies of the company 
  • Must have minimum personal tools as described by the department tool list (or be able to obtain them within 90 days of hire date) 
  • Able to perform the essential functions of the job at the time of the job offer with or without reasonable accommodations 
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED  
  • Electrical experience in Industrial or Mining/Milling setting
  • Ability to read and comprehend drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Experience working with various types of test equipment; including multi-meter, meg-ohmmeter, ground impedance meter, voltage detectors, power analyzers.
  • Experience working with relay logic control circuits
  • Experience working with PLC based control circuits
  • Experience maintaining large motors
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Experience with VFDs and D.C. motor drives
  • Experience with medium voltage distribution equipment
  • Experience servicing conveyor systems
  • Experience servicing industrial lighting
  • Experience servicing electric bridge cranes
  • Excellent safety and attendance record
Criteria/ Conditions
  • Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy to heavy objects up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the workday
  • Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety foot wear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and other protective equipment as required

The mill is at an altitude of approximately 10,000 feet.  In the winter the average high temperature is 28 degrees and the average low is 0 degrees.  In the summer the average high temperature is 75 degrees and the average low is 40 degrees.  The average snowfall in Summit/Grand counties is in excess of 250 inches per year.  The median estimated house/condo value in 2005 in Summit Country was reported to be $443,000.  The median estimated house/condo value in 2005 in Grand County was reported to be $287,000.
