CH2M Hill - Entry Level Instrument & Controls Engineer – Anchorage, Alaska

Our Entry Level Instrumentation and Controls Engineer job will provide you with the opportunity to work on exciting, large scale Energy & Chemicals projects. Each day you will be an important team member as you participate in the design, coordination, execution and supervision of the technical aspects of many Energy & Chemicals projects specifically related to instrumentation and controls. You should be a self motivated, detail oriented professional with a minimum of 6 months internship experience in instrumentation and control systems, a Bachelor's degree, have an excellent understanding and knowledge of industry codes and standards (NFPA/NEC, IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, API, and ASI) and I&C design tools.
Our Entry Level Instrumentation and Controls Engineer:
Performs engineering, designs and calculations in accordance with established department standards; Design Procedures, Design Guidelines, and Best Practices.
Establishes design concepts and design data for work assigned to project teams and assures technical accuracy and conformance to project requirements.
Independently evaluates the selection and/or modification of standard techniques, procedures, criteria and systems to efficiently meet project goals.
Prepares all I&C design and engineering deliverables including P&IDs, Instrument Index, Instrument Specifications, and Design Drawings including Control System Architecture, Control Panel Layouts with BOM, Power Junction Box (PJB), Instrument Junction Box (IJB), Instrument Loop Wiring Diagrams, Control Schematics, Cable Schedules, Instrument Installation Details, and Instrument Location Plans.
Coordinates details and miscellaneous design criteria with other engineering disciplines.
Reviews I&C drawings and specifications and other disciplines' deliverables including Piping's 3-D Model and Isometrics checks, Electrical Cable & Conduits for compliance with department and project needs and client standards.
Creates and maintains updated files of project including shop drawings and discipline drawings.
Additional Information: Preference will be given to candidates in the Anchorage area. CH2M HILL will not sponsor an employment visa (e.g., H-1B visa, etc) to fill this position.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or other applicable engineering discipline
Previous Instrumentation & Controls engineering internship experience.
Functional experience with Microsoft Office applications with emphasis on Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- EIT Certification
- Experience checking and approving designers' and drafters' shop drawings and/or vendor drawings.
- Oil & Gas industry experience
- Fire and Gas Experience
