Reporting to the Assistant Construction Manager, the Construction Coordinator; Plans, schedules, administers and reports on construction projects and is accountable for the safe, timely and cost-effective implementation of Facilities construction projects.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ensure compliance with EH&S standards
- Reports, investigates and resolves all incidents to closure
- Ensure work is in compliance with work package plans and specifications
- Support commissioning and start up of facilities
- Develops schedules and monitors contractor activities
- Act as primary interface between Suncor and construction contractors
- Provide input during design process relative to constructability and operability
- Contribute to development of planning, scheduling and estimating process through review of construction work packages
- Ensures compliance with applicable codes and QA/QC procedures
- Ensure that contractor cost collection requirements are submitted and approved as required
- Ensures all construction related change notices are addressed in a timely manner by coordinating necessary resources to address the identified change
- Coordinate labour, materials and other resources to carry out construction activities in accordance with the IFC plans and specifications
- Updates project information and maintains project files by tracking the cost, schedule, and progress
- Reports Daily activities on a weekly basis to Supervisor
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
- Technician or Journeyman Trade Certification
- Knowledgeable in all aspects of plant construction, including civil, foundations, buildings, piping, mechanical equipment, electrical and instrumentation
- Adequate knowledge of plant operations to support safe construction activities within the constraints of an operating plant environment
- Good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of relevant EH&S standards and procedures
- A minimum of 10+ years experience managing and/or coordinating construction projects
- Possesses a high degree of business acumen and IT literacy
- Knowledge of relevant EH&S standards and procedures
Skills and Knowledge:
- The candidate must have exceptional people skills, superior communication skills both written and verbal, and strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
- Must be motivated and take pride in their work
- Be able to gain the confidence of the Project Teams
- Flexible self-starter who works well with little supervision and has strong ownership for the work
- Proficient in MS Office to include MS Project
- A demonstrated ability to work independently under time constraints
- An ability to liaise at all levels with internal and external customers
- Team player to deliver desired outcomes
- To work flexible hours to meet the responsibilities to complete the task
