This role will be responsible for:
- Delivering on Maintenance Department annual production objectives and targets
- Planning and scheduling preventative maintenance activities in collaboration with maintenance and production foreman to minimize production delays and control maintenance and repair costs within planned budget
- Ensuring equipment parts and resources are available onsite before a PM is carried out on an equipment/machinery
- Effectively communicating any changes to a planned scheduled PM
Health and Safety
- Ensure adherence to Walter Energy’s with workplace policies and standard work procedures for risk identification, risk assessment and risk control
- Maintain a high level of Health and Safety performance through effective communication, monitoring and revision of standard work procedures
- Identification and reporting of health and safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries and property damage at the workplace
- Attend and participate in all scheduled health and safety meetings and training
Environment
- Ensure adherence to Walter Energy’s environmental policy, work standards, management plans and regulatory obligations and requirements
- Integrate environmental policies, programs, and practices into all activities of the organization
- Maintain environmental awareness amongst workforce by holding meetings and actively participate in planned environmental programs
- Report all environmental incidences to environmental personnel
Production
- Plans and schedules preventive maintenance activities to minimize production delays and control maintenance costs
- Prepares work orders on planned and unplanned jobs detailing work to be performed and material, time trades and manpower requirements as requested by production and/or service departments
- Issues work orders and assigns jobs to the proper trades
- Inspects completed and uncompleted work to update schedules
- Ensure operating and other statistical condition information is entered on a timely basis
- Prepares monthly and weekly reports for supervisors and management
- Attends various maintenance meetings and discussions as requested
- This will include the development of the plan, the scheduling of the internal and external resources and will take a role in ensuring the safe incident free execution of the plan
- The Planner will also ensure that the scope and the budget of these plans are on track
- Review and manage work order backlog
- Develop planned detailed work orders
- Accurate records must also be kept to maintain the integrity of budgetary requirements, contractual obligations between vendors and any/all legislative requirements
- Ensure equipment and machinery parts are available onsite before a scheduled PM is carried out
Required:
- 5+ years’ experience in a trade and or planning position
- Solid practical experience developing effective maintenance plans
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have knowledge of mechanical maintenance work processes and preventive maintenance activities
- Planning attitude - the ability to optimize work and break it down into logical detailed steps
- Must portray strong leadership and communication skills
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Ability to listen and communicate effectively
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Decision making skills and negotiations skills
- Literacy skills including the ability to read manuals and regulatory requirements
- Effective verbal and listening communication skills
- Computer skills include use of Microsoft Software packages
- Time management skills, as well as the ability to prioritize with tight deadlines
- Ability to manage and develop cost estimates and budgets
- Ability to use computer packages to plan preventive maintenance (PM) schedules
- Ability to conduct group meeting sessions outliner planned PM schedules. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills including ability to effectively communicate and interact with all individuals with integrity, empathy and sincerity
- Ability to multi task and communicate with all levels within the business
