CH2M HILL Estimating Manager - Houston, Texas

The Challenge? Each day you will utilize your skills to support professionals working on challenging Energy and Chemicals business group projects while helping to develop and provide high quality, leading edge estimating solutions to the oil and gas market. The Estimating Manager position provides you the opportunity to lead the effort in developing quality estimating for CH2M HILL that meet our client and project specifications while working within a multidiscipline construction and engineering team. Our Estimating Manager performs as an integral part of the proposal and execution teams by supporting the proposal and project delivery teams. You must be a self-motivated team player with at least 20 years of successful experience in the Energy and Chemicals / Oil and Gas with 15 years preparing conceptual or detailed estimates. You also must be well-versed in applying a diversified knowledge with Company standard estimating system, word processing and spreadsheet programs, with team management, supervision and administrative organization. You must possess a 4-year college degree, and have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each assignment.

Our Estimating Manager will:

• Promote and enforce business group and corporately established estimating processes, procedures and policies
• Prepare conceptual and detailed cost estimates
• Supervise other estimators or to act as the lead estimator on selected proposals
• Manage concurrent estimates
• Manage large, diverse estimating group staff resources
• Be responsible for completion of all estimate deliverables
• Responsible and accountable for coordinating with engineering and construction to develop accurate, complete and timely preparation of estimate
• Meet proposal budget and schedule for estimating services to internal and external clients
• Contribute to proposal strategy
• Contribute to project delivery strategy
• Provide inputs into risk analysis for every proposalContribute to procurement strategy, bidding, and selection processes
• Assist the projects and procurement in developing scope of work documents and reviewing or developing bid tab analysis for subcontractors
• Review historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports to ensure proper production units and pricing
• Prepare and enforce guidelines for the preparation and review of cost estimates
• Assist in training, developing and maintaining a staff of estimators
• Display exceptional leadership skills to internal and external clients
• Display exceptional communication and interpersonal skills through daily email, phone, and face-to-face interaction with internal and external clients
• Display ability to host and facilitate large workshops and group meetings
• Support project delivery success by providing estimating services and resources
• Be competent in Timberline Estimating or other estimating software tools
• Be proficient in MS Office products including Outlook, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
• Be competent in MS SharePoint
• Contribute to the short and long term business plans for the Energy and Chemicals Business Group and CH2M Hill
• May be required to visit proposed project locations to investigate actual site conditions
• Develop measures for quality improvement

Basic Qualifications

• Industry leading knowledge of at risk estimating
• Strong understanding of national and international markets
• 20+ years experience in the engineering/construction industry
• 15+ years experience estimating for industrial and/or oil and gas projects
• Ability to travel 30-50% of the time
• Experience in interfacing with Project Controls requirements
• Competent in Timberline Estimating or other estimating software tools
• 4-year college degree
