CH2M HILL Piping Designer Jobs - Bellingham, WA

The Challenge? Help to meet the ever increasing Global demand for Energy. Our Piping Designer job will offer you an exciting opportunity to help our Clients provide a safe and reliable source of Energy to heat homes, fuel automobiles, and move goods and services in support of millions of people. Each day you will be part of a professional team that provides design services to our Clients. You will perform work that involves conventional types of designs and with minimal guidance. You will gather information from all sources required including other disciplines, vendors, engineers, reference drawings and catalogs to produce complete, functional and constructible design packages.

Our Piping Designer:

• Prepares clear, accurate and complete drawings using practical design knowledge
• Develops detailed design elements using information from various sources which may include site studies, vendor drawings, catalog data, engineering sketches, reference drawings and input from other disciplines
• Participates in field investigations, produces clear field reports with detailed sketches, written and verbal instructions
• Assists in the review of vendor shop drawings and design drawings
• Participates in design coordination with engineers and other disciplines in the development of complete drawing packages
• Coordinates with other disciplines, designers, and engineers
• Demonstrates good knowledge in preparing P&ID's, piping plan and sections, and piping isometric drawings
• Demonstrates a working knowledge of selecting and placement of pipe supports, and equipment layout

Basic Qualifications

• Technical school graduate, with a two-year degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology or technical certificate
• Five years drafting/design experience in oil and gas production, refineries, petrochemicals or related industry
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, and Bentley AutoPLANT (3D Piping Design) are required

Preferred Qualifications

• High level manual drafting skills using various media and techniques
• Strong working knowledge and application of discipline specific skills, design criteria, codes, standard practices and design theory
• Good written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills
• Able to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines
