Intermediate Mining Engineer Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Description
Reporting to a Senior Mining Engineer, the Mining Engineer’s role will involve all aspects of mining operations including mine feasibility studies, resource optimization, short and long term mine planning, and production material balances. The Mining Engineer will be working within a dynamic team environment and will be collaborating with interdisciplinary team members.
This position is based out of Calgary or Vancouver, travel to field based assignments to support field operations may be required.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Planning and Execution
Working on multi-disciplinary teams to conduct mining related studies
Using mining software to assess and develop mineral deposits
Developing mine plans including production schedules, material and tailings balance, haulage simulation
Preparing mining cost estimates
Writing technical reports
Presenting mine planning results to clients
Providing consulting expertise to Norwest’s global client list
Business Requirements
Foster an environment of safety awareness and loss management.
Provide technical advice to clients in a number of areas in mine planning
Project feasibility analysis
Compliance to all regulatory and industry regulations
Qualifications
Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Mining, Civil or Geological Engineering
Summary of Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years of industry or consulting engineering experience
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Clear verbal and written communication skills
Advanced knowledge in Microsoft applications
Strong knowledge of mine planning software and AutoCAD systems
Experience in mine planning and mine operations
Registered, or eligible to register, with APPEGA
Excellent interpersonal skills
