Job Description: AREVA is seeking a Fuel Rod Thermal and Mechanical Engineer. The qualified individual will be involved in all First-Of-A-Kind activities related to the design and analyses of AREVA fuel rods and control rods as well as the development of codes and methods. Typical assignments include:
- Perform thermal and mechanical analyses to support the safe irradiation of existing and new fuel designs including the Bellefonte and US PWR MOX fuel designs. These analyses involve the use of engineering computer codes, empirical methods, and first principle methods.
- Perform thermal and mechanical analyses of control rods (CRAs, CEAs, and RCCAs) to demonstrate that all functional requirements are met.
- Participate in the development of computer codes and associated methods for use in thermal and mechanical analyses.
- Participate in and support interface with regulatory authorities to obtain regulatory approval of the AREVA reactor core design, codes, and methods.
- Prepare and review of engineering drawings and specifications and supporting documentation such as calculation files, test requirements and associated reports.

- BS in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering. Higher education level and/or industry experience will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.

- Utility fuel engineering experience.
- Ability and willingness to travel to plant sites to support refueling outages and Post Irradiation Examinations.
- French and/or German language skills a plus.
