CH2M HILL Process Engineer Job – Anchorage, AK

Many everyday products, and most of our nation's transportation fuels, originate as crude oil. A significant share of our nation's crude oil comes from the great state of Alaska. At CH2M HILL, we play an integral part in assisting our clients to develop engineering projects to help get this oil to world markets. As a Process Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects that will allow you to apply your talents, skills, and experience. You should be a self-motivated chemical engineer, or equivalent degree, with preferably a minimum of 6 years of engineering design experience. Preference is for a Chemical Engineer. The ideal candidate should have the ability to work Feasibility level projects through to Detailed Engineering.

Our Process Engineer:

• Works a wide range of projects, both smaller to larger capital projects, as well as Feasibility Stage engineering through to Detailed Stage engineering
• Must be able to interact directly with Project Management and other engineering disciplines
• Must have strong communication skills; especially written skills
• Assists in developing process engineering scope of work and process effort hour estimates
• Develops staffing plans and schedules to complete process engineering work
• Develops the project design basis
• Preferred candidate would have an excellent knowledge of company, client, and industry codes, specifications, and standards
• Participates in meetings with the Client and project team to establish project objectives, and to coordinate and/or resolve design problems
• Coordinates process engineering reports, studies, calculations, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and review and approval of vendor submittals
• Must be familiar with process safety reviews: HAZIDs, PHSSERs, and PHA's
• Approves process deliverables prior to formal issue
• Must be able to travel; travel may be approximately 5-10% of the time at the upper-end
• Requires minimal supervision; up to and possibly including being seconded to the client's office

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent level of schooling
• Minimum of 6 years experience in Engineering Design; preferably in Energy or Chemicals
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Some degree of proficiency with HYSYS or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• P.E. Registration in AK is preferred; or ability to obtain quickly
• Experience in Upstream and/or Downstream refinery highly preferred
