Maersk Oil Kazakhstan GmbH is currently looking for a Head of Drilling Operations to lead our Drilling Operations for our development activities.
The Head of Drilling Operations will take up a position within the Aktau based head office for Kazakhstan Operations. In close corporation with the entire drilling team you will have a key role in taking Maersk Oil Kazakhstan to the next level of successfully running a safe and efficient landbased operation in a challenging environment.
Maersk Oil Kazakhstan is currently in a phase of intensive preparation for the next stage of developing the Dunga Field (Phase II Development Plan) which will entail drilling of 198 vertical wells over a three year period. This requires a significant step change for the organisation to manage and optimize tenders, standards, procedures and engineering tasks, whilst ensuring compliance with corporate policies. Drive and mastering of cross functional collaboration is therefore a must.
Responsibilities of the Head of Drilling Operations
It is the responsibility of the Head of Drilling operations to ensure that the Drilling Department delivers a safe and high quality drilling performance. It is important that Maersk Oil Kazakhstan GmbH maintains a high technical level and therefore capturing lessons learned and best practices for sharing with other members of the drilling team as well as other Maersk Oil Drilling Departments on a worldwide basis is part of the workscope.
Lead and support a team of Drilling superintendents and advise the Drilling manager on HSE, technical and operational issues related to the drilling operations.
Review all well proposals, drilling and completions programmes. Monitor ongoing drilling operations and ensure that all operations are executed in accordance with procedures. Constantly optimize and improve the execution of drilling operations.
Conduct regular visits to the well site to ensure that contractors are executing the work in a safe and efficient manner following MOK, local, and international operating standards/practices. Arrange regular safety and operational meeting with contractors.
Have ownership and further develop MOK procedures, operational and safety manuals. Review incident reports and monitor incident follow up.
Background
Graduate engineer, with minimum of 15 – 20 years relevant experience within Drilling. Proven track record as a skilled and competent drilling professional. Proven knowledge of the principles of well design, well control, mud engineering, cementing, workovers/completions. Good understanding of petroleum engineering aspect and project management. People management, leadership skills and good communication skills with a high level of cultural awareness. Contract management experience and negotiating skills. Personal skills include ability to interact with other disciplines, motivate people and being a good team player.
