Description
Direction Received:
This position reports directly to the Section Manager- Training. The incumbent will be expected to work with a high level of independence and decision making.
Direction Given:
This position will not have any direct reports, but will work in conjunction with management and bargaining unit personnel for input on materials, competencies, etc.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities include:
• Oversee day to day training activities for operations personnel
• Develop training plans and materials, and evaluations for targeted groups
• Conduct a variety of competency-based evaluations for operations personnel related to operations tasks, and participate in employee development
• Conduct needs assessments
• Understand and work in conjunction with the railway to ensure Transport Canada and other railway specific regulations are followed
• Participate in the orientation and on boarding program at Scully
• Prepare and deliver appropriate training as required for small and large groups, or source training as required, and liaise with Pointe Noire rail as required
• Commitment to continuous improvement and safe operations programs
• Participate in audits of safety and training programs and systems
• Maintain and monitor training records for operations employees
Experience:
The incumbent will have 7-10 years of experience; preferably in a combination of supervisory and training functions. Experience in a unionized and production-based environment. Preferred experience in a mining or heavy industrial setting.
Educational Requirements:
The incumbent will have post secondary education in an applicable area, such as a trade certificate, training or engineering degree or diploma, or other relevant area from a recognized post secondary institution (other combinations of education and experience will also be considered).
