The Manitoba Operation Department of a gold producer is looking to add an Environmental Manager to its management team. The Environmental Manager will be responsible for managing the environmental and regulatory needs in support of the development, refurbishment and construction of the company property as they move toward full production in 2012. They will direct, and coordinate activities involved in developing procedures, monitoring reporting processes and techniques to solve environmental problems, obtain necessary approvals and permits and to build a culture of environmental responsibility within the organization. They will develop and implement strategies for dealing with the various stakeholders in the areas of environmental and community relations. The Environmental Manager must also ensure that compliance with all government and company-mandated, legal, corporate, EH&S and professional standards is met.
The successful candidate will have 10+ years of experience working in the environmental field, preferable with some exposure to mining or heavy industrial operations. A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, the Sciences, Engineering or related degree/experience levels. Knowledge and experience in managing and executing environmental programs, permitting, water management planning, waste management and quality assurance procedures is required as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.
This position will be based in Snow Lake, Manitoba. Depending on the candidate's personal situation, this can either be a rotational position or the company will assist in relocation.
