Headquartered in Toronto, Canada, Barrick has a portfolio of 27 mining operations, many advanced explorations projects located across five continents and a large number of tenements located on some of the most prolific and prospective mineral trends. 11 of Barrick’s mining operations are found within the Australia Pacific region, with its regional head office located in Perth, Western Australia. Within the Yilgarn Operations Barrick operates four wholly owned Gold Mines in the North Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia producing approx. 500,000-600,000 oz of gold each year. Our Plutonic Operation is currently seeking an experienced Planning Engineer to join their Technical Services team. Reporting to the Senior Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for the following duties and activities:

• Medium and long term mine planning and scheduling
• Preparation of preliminary designs for further development and approval
• Assisting in the briefing of production personnel on new stopes being developed and liaise with supervisors
• Carry out stope design studies including ground support and critical path requirements
• Stope reconciliation's
• Promotion of site safety policies
• Liaise with other departments as required

Skills & Abilities
The successful applicant must have the following qualifications and experience:

• Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or related discipline
• 2 to 3 years relevant experience, some in mechanized metalliferous underground mine
• Experience in mine planning and production
• Competent in the use of mine planning software, preferably Vulcan and EPS
• Exposure to geotechnical and backfill engineering as well as air leg, long hole open stope, room and pillar mining methods
