Regional Head of Safety | DRC | $100,000 – 110,000 + Bonus (20%) + Healthcare + Insurance + Accommodation

Our client is a top listed LSX mining company with operations in Central Africa. Our client requires a Head of Safety to be based in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on a FIFO rotation of 6/3.

This position will be required to implement, enhance and promote a strong safety culture across the region of the DRC. This opportunity requires an experienced Safety Manager from the mining sector, who has knowledge or experience of working in the DRC. Fluency in French is not essential but desired.

The Regional Head of Safety must be strategic and understand how to implement a correct behavioural safety culture across the organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for rapid career progression to Executive Management to become a Vice President.

The Role (Key Points):

• Provide effective guidance, coaching and mentor to all site personnel on effective  health and safety practises
• Manage a dynamic team of 35
• Prepare reports and improvement models of safety
• Ensure ongoing compliance of all site HSE systems through regular auditing
• Ensure ongoing improvement to HSE systems
• Ensure that all statutory HSE requirements, engineering standards and construction procedures are complied with.
• Conduct site HSE inspections on a regular basis and ensure adequate records are kept.
• Ensure that the work is being executed in accordance with the company’s Safety specifications and instructions.

Selection Criteria:

• Relevant safety qualifications
• Previous experience in a Safety Management position
• Experience within the mining sector
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem solving skills
